About me
I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. I love reading, movies, baking, wine and laughter. I have some fish, but no tattoos. My daughter says my best qualities are "loving, playing and wondering."
Why I use Clipmarks
Clipmarks makes getting information easier. I trust my fellow Clippers to gather both sides of the story and feed them to me in manageable bites. I'm lazy but also a glutton for news and information. Since Clipmarks, I'm never at a loss for conversation starters. My popularity at parties has soared.

a cappella tribute to John Williams

This is so funny. Masterful lyrics. His impression of Luke Skywalker is pretty good, too. "That's not true!" The Jurassic Park score is my all time favorite piece of music. It gives me chills (in a good way).

Cranberry Orange Cornmeal Cake: recipe
bignosemousie
by bignosemousie  Yesterday 11:45 AM
 4. With the mixer running, slowly incorporate the egg mixture into the butter just until combined. 5. With the mixer on low speed, add one-half of the flour mixture to the batter and quickly mix for 5 seconds. Turn off the mixer and add the rest of the flour, the ricotta and one-half of the cranberries. Mix the remaining ingredients into the batter over low speed just until combined, being careful not to overmix. 6. Gently pour the batter into the cake pan and smooth the top. Scatter the remaining cranberries over the top of the cake, and sprinkle with the remaining 2 tablespoons sugar. 7. Bake the cake until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Place a loose piece of foil over the top of the cake if it starts to darken. Cool the cake on a wire rack before removing it from the pan.

Manifesting love through words
bignosemousie
by bignosemousie  Yesterday 10:46 AM
I'm trying to get more love into my speaking. It is so easy, when I'm feeling rushed and irritated, to bark out a reprimand to my daughter. How her whole demeanor changes when I speak with love instead! Such thoughtlessness on my part really impacts her relationship with me and her view of herself.

Gorgonzola, fig and pecan cheese terrine
bignosemousie
by bignosemousie  11-18-2008
Spray a 1 quart loaf pan with cooking spray and line the inside with plastic wrap. Spoon half of the cheese mixture into the pan and spread it evenly, making sure to get into the corners. Scatter the figs, pecans and chopped parsley on top evenly and cover with the remaining cheese. Give the pan a few sharp raps on a flat surface to settle the terrine, cover the top with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours. To remove the terrine from the pan, turn upside down on a flat surface and pull 1 end of the plastic wrap down. The terrine will slip out of the pan onto the top piece of plastic wrap. Slice and fan out on a platter garnished with greens. Garnish with the remaining 1/2 cup of figs, pecans and thyme. Serve with crackers.

Butternut Squash, Apple, and Onion Galette with Stilton
bignosemousie
by bignosemousie  11-18-2008    1
Remove the blade and bring the dough together by hand. Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate at least 1 hour. For the filling: Halve and core the apple. Cut each 1/2 into 8 wedges and put them in a large bowl. Slice the squash and cut the onion into wedges so that both are as thick as the apple wedges, and add them to the apples. Add the butter, rosemary, and thyme and toss gently to combine. Season with salt and pepper and toss again. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12-inch disk. Transfer the dough to a baking sheet and brush with mustard. Starting 2 inches from the edge, casually alternate pieces of apple, squash, and onion in overlapping circles—if you have extra pieces of one or another, tuck them in where you can or double them up until to use all the filling. Fold and pleat the dough over the edge of the filling.

Ultimate Caramel Apple Pie Recipe

Fill a large bowl with cold water and squeeze in the lemon juice. Peel the apples with a paring knife, cut them in half, and remove the core with a melon baller. Put the apple halves in the lemon-water (this will keep them from going brown). Toss the apples with the flour and cinnamon.
