About me
I am a Meningioma Brain Tumor Survivor since 2000.
I use the Internet to warn others of the dangers of misdiagnoses ,when doctors relate symptoms to stress or mental disorders.
A slow growing brain tumor (meningioma) can cause many unspecific symptoms in the body that come and go over many years. Those who suffer in their search for an answer often give up on doctors and the health system when they are treated as if, " its all in their head".
Why I use Clipmarks
I'm a gadget person...Clipmarks has helped me to learn more about what goes on in our world and what others think is important. Sharing what we find here on Clipmarks is better than any social networking site I've ever experienced.

Stranded Whales turn the sea blood red
Imnclady
by Imnclady  12-2-2008    4
Heartbroken wildlife officials, mourning the death of 150 small whales when they were smashed against rocks in Tasmania, admit there will probably be other mass strandings in the weeks to come. Just why whales die in large numbers continues to be debated but most experts agree that the deep-water creatures might lose their navigational skills when they chase prey into shallow waters. The bodies of the long-finned pilot whales lay scattered across the rocks at Tasmania's rugged Sandy Cape after local people and government wildlife officials tried desperately to save them.

1 in 5 young adults has personality disorder
Imnclady
by Imnclady  12-2-2008
Counting substance abuse, the study found that nearly half of young people surveyed have some sort of psychiatric condition, including students and non-students. Personality disorders were the second most common problem behind drug or alcohol abuse as a single category. The disorders include obsessive, anti-social and paranoid behaviors that are not mere quirks but actually interfere with ordinary functioning. The study authors noted that recent tragedies such as fatal shootings at Northern Illinois University and Virginia Tech have raised awareness about the prevalence of mental illness on college campuses.

Suicide Live Online
Imnclady
by Imnclady  12-1-2008
At the end of Abraham’s video when the police entered the room and found his body, some members of his audience wrote “lol” or “hahahah,” as if they were watching just another viral video. These people either didn’t understand what was happening was real, or were so desensitized by what they saw online that they just didn’t care. Suicide is horrible enough in real life, but the fact that complete strangers openly mocked the deceased is a tragedy in its own right. This is the sad result of broadcasting a life event online that should never have happened in the first place. We shouldn’t expect the sordid details of someone’s personal life to become entertainment for the rest of us, as not everything needs to be posted online. As an audience, we have to take responsibility for all of our actions - both online and off.

Does Time really Slow Down in a Crisis?
einbar
by einbar  11-8-2008    7
Eagleman added this illusion "is related to the phenomenon that time seems to speed up as you grow older. When you're a child, you lay down rich memories for all your experiences; when you're older, you've seen it all before and lay down fewer memories. Therefore, when a child looks back at the end of a summer, it seems to have lasted forever; adults think it zoomed by." And though the results of this study can lead towards disorders linked with timing, such as schizophrenia, Eagleman believes "it's really about understanding the virtual reality machinery that we're trapped in,"Our brain constructs this reality for us that, if we look closely, we can find all these strange illusions in. The fact that we're now seeing this with how we perceive time is new."

Lori Berenson is a US citizen currently being held as a political prisoner in Cajamarca, Perú. After serving nearly five years in harsh Peruvian jails high in the Andes, her conviction for treason against Perú and her life sentence were overturned. In June 2001 she was cleared of terrorism-related charges but convicted of collaboration, and sentenced to twenty years in prison in a trial that the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights claims completely violated her rights.
