The Coming Ice Age
CrazyRedHead
by CrazyRedHead  Today 6:51 PM
"Earth’s climate is controlled by the Sun. In comparison, every other factor is trivial. The coldest part of the Little Ice Age during the latter half of the seventeenth century was marked by the nearly complete absence of sunspots. And the Sun now appears to be entering a new period of quiescence. August of 2008 was the first month since the year 1913 that no sunspots were observed. As I write, the sun remains quiet. We are in a cooling trend."

Reid's life-raft is deflating
dl211
by dl211  Today 9:59 AM    1
Of course, these come as no surprise to Nevadans & we’re sure to see many more between now & the 2010 election. The question is how deep the lifeboat holding Nevada’s “representative” will sink… According to that same LVRJ poll set, a whopping 53% of Nevadans polled do not support the health reform legislation Mr. Reid has proposed & supports. Only 39% of Nevadans are in favor, demonstrating a pretty significant drop in approval numbers since October when the split was 49% -40%. So why, Senator Reid, do you continue to tout this bill (constantly in decline) as the Insurance of a Lifetime? Are you a representative of Nevada’s people or do you just work for the “Big Guy?” Errr, wait—the ultra-Liberal left is always for the “forgotten man.” Point noted.

ClimateGate: the raw data
CrazyRedHead
by CrazyRedHead  Today 10:04 AM    2
"We have five different records covering Darwin from 1941 on. They all agree almost exactly. Why adjust them at all? They’ve just added a huge artificial totally imaginary trend to the last half of the raw data!....One thing is clear from this. People who say that “Climategate was only about scientists behaving badly, but the data is OK” are wrong. At least one part of the data is bad, too. The Smoking Gun for that statement is at Darwin Zero."

No Matter What

"Mr. Burgess, who has lived and worked for most of his 96 years in Wyoming and Nebraska as a hired farmhand and in later years as a machinist, still drives his truck almost every day into Torrington, Wyo., about eight miles from his home, for a hot lunch at the senior center. But his driver’s license expires in January, and he is deeply worried that he might not pass the test this time around. Mr. Burgess gets housekeeping assistance under a state program that helps older people stay in their homes and out of nursing care. But if he could not socialize in town, he said, he would be lost. “I might be on roller skates,” said Mr. Burgess, still cowboy-thin in cinched-up Levis, his booming outdoor voice filling his home on a recent snowy afternoon. He glanced around the tiny, cluttered living room — the coal stove, the broken television, the walls lined with pictures of his wife, Laura, who died just over a year ago after more than 60 years of marriage."

A Reid too far?
dl211
by dl211  Today 10:03 AM    1
“Reid ducked several national questions. On whether he would ‘opt out’ of the public option if the Senate health-care bill his father has written becomes law, he answered that he has no idea what the eventual health-care law would entail. ‘I’m not going to get into what the law might be.’ Regarding whether he supported President Obama’s troop increase to Afghanistan, Reid replied that he’s running for governor of Nevada, not federal office. ‘That policy is best left to the president.’ He also declined to talk about his father’s Senate race. ‘I think you should ask him to handicap his own race.’” The National Republican Senate Committee quickly jumped on the stories, sending mailings to Nevada journalists. Though Rory Reid said nothing against his father in the press interviews, the GOP mailing was headed, “Not exactly a vote of confidence from Harry Reid’s own son.” And Las Vegas columnist Jon Ralston posted a piece headlined “Reids’ national media misadventures …” that said, “But t

100 Billion Galaxies
cakebelly
by cakebelly  Today 12:10 PM
The new Wide Field Camera 3 aboard the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope has taken the deepest image yet of the Universe in near-infrared light. The faintest and reddest objects in the image are likely the oldest galaxies ever identified, having formed between only 600–900 million years after the Big Bang. The image shows thousands of galaxies, some more than 12 billion years old. The field view of this image would fit behind a grain of sand held at arm's length against the sky. Almost every dot in this photo is an entire galaxy of stars and who knows what fascinating undiscovered mysteries.

Sharpton Blasts Tiger Woods
dl211
by dl211  Today 11:15 AM    3
Sharpton, who has long championed taking black women as mistresses, said that today’s black athletes need to stop neglecting black women when it comes to extramarital affairs, and should follow the examples of positive black role models such as Jesse Jackson and Martin Luther King, Jr., both of whom cheated on their wives with black women. Sharpton also stressed that cheating with African-American women would help the black community financially by giving black girls the chance to sell their stories to tabloids and gossip magazines. Added Sharpton, “I’m not asking you to not cheat on your wives, I’m just asking you to give back to your own community.”

More “Hide The Decline” From NASA GISS
merrie

The pattern emerging is one of alarmists having to ‘adjust’ the data because it shows there is no man-made warming , per their own highly vaunted climate models. The same models that have produced all the dire predictions of pending doom. One thing you NEVER do in science is ‘adjust’ the data to meet your desired outcome. And one thing you also NEVER do is trust those whose careers and credibility rest on producing a desired outcome to do the verification and validation of their own theories.
